Course Profile
The Fashion Design Course is the first short term course introduced in the college in 2008. In 2009, the course came under the UGC approved Career Oriented Programme and from 2012 the course is funded by the College. Initially, the course was introduced as a certificate programme, with just a single batch of students. In 2012, two separate sections were introduced, that is, afternoon and evening sections. The year also saw the commencement of the diploma course. In 2017, the course has introduced two batches- June and October for both sections and in 2019 one more batch has been introduced in the month of April.
The syllabus for both the certificate and diploma course has been so structured as to give students the opportunity to pick up a variety of skills related to design in the backdrop of market requirement. Theory and practical classes form the backbone of the course. Student participation in workshops, fieldtrips, orientation programmes, fashion shows and internship is also a crucial element of the course.
