Lady Keane College has taken significant steps to enhance students' employability through Vocational Education and Training Courses (VTCs) and Career Oriented Courses (COCs). These programs are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skills required in the job market.
The Vocational Education and Training Courses (VTC) focus on skill-based learning, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in specific trades or professions. The VTCs introduced as per the approved list of the affiliating University include: Baking and Confectionary, Beauty Care, Event Management, Fashion Design, Floriculture and Landscaping, Khasi Traditional Music, Mushroom Cultivation, Vocals and Web designing. The emphasis is on practical training, ensuring that students are job-ready upon completion.
Career Oriented Courses (COCs), on the other hand, are structured to supplement traditional degree programs. At present, there are two certificate and diploma courses in Khasi Traditional Music and Fashion Designing. These courses aim to enhance students' career prospects by equipping them with additional competencies that align with industry demands.
Together, VTCs and COCs at Lady Keane College play a crucial role in empowering students by promoting self-reliance and broadening career opportunities. These initiatives reflect the college's commitment to holistic education, combining academic excellence with skill development to meet the evolving needs of the workforce.
